NICKED Up has only been around for 2 weeks, but 3 of the blogs have been running for over a year. I have to admit when I first started up a few sites I never imagined making much money from them. Blogging was a hobby. Over the past several months I’ve come to realize the potential of earning money on the Internet and blogging is now a 2nd job for me.
There are many people out blogging professionaly now. One of these people has helped me out a great deal over the past several months. That person is Darren from ProBlogger. He hasn’t directly helped me, except for one or two quick questions I’ve emailed his way, but the tips on his site are priceless. I’ve been following his blog on a daily basis for several months now so I stay on top of the blogging world.
With Darren’s tips I’ve taken my Google Adsense revenue to levels I never imagined making from blogs. I’ve earned more from advertising in the past 3 months than I had in the previous 6. Here is a chart of Google Adsense earnings for the past 12 months. August’s mark is not only from Adsense, but also from a few days of testing Yahoo! Publisher Network ads.

I’ll say that I’ve become a 5-figure blogger over the past 12 months, but as you can see I left off specific numbers. It’s nothing like the totals Darren is bringing in with his sites, but he’s been doing it a lot longer and has quite a few more sites than I’d have the time to manage. Maybe I’ll reach those heights in the future, but I don’t plan on quiting my day job anytime soon.
If you come up with an idea, don’t be afraid to go with it. Get a site up and running. With domains registrations at $6/year (sometimes less) and some hosting packages in the $10-$20/year range you don’t have much to risk except your time and effort.
With today’s launch of Primary Rough, NICKED Up now has 5 blogs (counting this site). I have a domain name already purchased for the next blog and one other idea I’m still developing, so look for two more blogs in the next few weeks.

You really have to get lucky and hit it with a niche blog. Then you can build up from there.

juno,
Different techniques will work for different sites. You just have to experiment to see what works best for you.

I saw you were testing Yahoo’s publisher ads. I was too but I was getting virtually no clicks. I went back to Google on all my sites.
I think it is the ad titles. I talked to one of the Yahoo Publisher people and told her not only was some of the ads being cut off for space, even the titles were being cut off and ending with elipses. Who’s gonna click on that?
I also had a really, really hard time with the Yahoo Search Mktg cust service (though the publisher side was fabulous). I think in a few months they’ll work out the kinks and I’ll be willing to dip into profits to try them again. Not that I’m swimming in money yet LOL but I do depend on what I make, you know?
Congrats man!

Do you mean you earn 5 figure per month or per year lol
October 9th, 2005 @ 9:59 am
@Athomemama,
I agree. My first two days with YPN were fantastic, but then the revenue fell off the charts.
@kahsoon,
I wish it was 5 figures a month!
