It seems like it was just yesterday I came up with the idea to take videos of poker chip tricks and post them at MtDewVirus, but it was nearly 2 years ago. At the time I had 4 tricks posted on a single page and people had to download the videos to watch them on their own computers. On September 26th, 2004 I took it a step further by launching a site dedicated to the tricks and today Poker Chip Tricks turns one-year-old.

The past year has seen forums launched, the design change from 2 to 3 columns, a logo contest, a server move, removal of the forums, a new design, an appearance in a magazine (with more to come), and the opening of an online store. I’ve seen traffic spikes and falls. I’ve put up many different advertisements. I’ve tweaked the Google Adsense ads more than I probably should.

It’s all been worth it. I’ve had a lot of fun working on the site and seeing it grow. Today, there are more than twice as many tricks as there were when the site launched.

If I’ve learned anything from my experiences running the site it would be to act on your ideas. You just never know when something might hit it big. Poker Chip Tricks has become a very popular web site for poker players around the world.
